SDCFOA Information Update - Steve Coover - December 13, 2024

Check your Arbiter Pay as I just received my full pay for the CIF playoffs. Happy Holidays!

High School Championship Weekend! – Today and tomorrow will be the final games for the 2024 Season.  Monte Vista, Lincoln and El Capitan will be playing for a state championship and our crew of Mike Andrews, Nathan Thernes, Mike Duggan, Levi Sumner, Ed Blick, Leonard Blevins and John Gill will be working today’s game between Pacifica and Grant high schools.  The game will be at Saddleback College at 4:00 pm and televised by Spectrum SportsNet LA.  You can find all of the championship game information at CIFSTATE.org

College Post-Season Assignments – Congratulations to these individuals and to the SDCFOA for their continued work to get even better at every level from youth to NFL.

Jace Carlson: ACC Championship Game Clemson vs SMU (Alternate)

Marlow Fitzgerald: CFP First Round - Indiana @ Notre Dame

Michael Sparling: Arizona Bowl - Miami OH vs Colorado State

Jon Stabile: Cure Bowl - Jacksonville State vs Ohio

David Middleton: First Responder Bowl - North Texas vs Texas State

Steve Hoslett: Military Bowl - East Carolina vs NC State

New NCAA Instructor – Michael Mothershed is stepping back from his instructional leadership role in the college officials program.  Michael is busy traveling and providing rules interpretations on the CW network so Chris Wiggins will become our new Instructor for the NCAA program.  Welcome Chris and thank you for taking on this important job.

I will continue to provide updated information on the post-season as I get it.  Next up for the SDCFOA is our January Organizational Meeting where the current and incoming presidents meet with the officers to get updates and plan the outline for the 2026 Season and our Board Meetings which start in February.  Those Board meeting dates will be posted after the Organizational Meeting.

In the meantime, have a wonderful Holiday Season with your families and friends, many of whom allow us to do this crazy thing called football officiating!
